Description

What is it

Musumusukkai (Mukia maderaspatana) is a small creeper of the cucumber family, with soft, fuzzy leaves and bright red berries no bigger than peas. “Musu musu” is the Tamil word for that soft, hairy feel.

It has long been cooked into musumusukkai dosai, adai and rasam in Tamil homes, and the Siddha tradition values it for respiratory and seasonal wellness. We clean, dry and finely mill the herb so you can bring it to the table any day of the year.

What Makes This Different

  • Easy to cook with. Finely milled to blend straight into dosai batter, adai and rasam.
  • Fresh green character. Carefully dried to keep the herb’s own colour and mild, grassy aroma.
  • Single ingredient. 100% Musumusukkai, with no fillers, flavouring or blending agents.

What It Does

  • A Siddha herb for the changing seasons. Traditionally valued for respiratory and seasonal wellness.
  • A breakfast green. Musumusukkai dosai and adai are traditional Tamil ways to bring it into the morning meal.
  • Mild and kid-friendly in taste. Its gentle, grassy flavour sits quietly in batter and rasam.
  • Named after Chennai. Its botanical name, maderaspatana, means “of Madras”, a nod to the city where early botanists recorded it.

A Creeper That Carries Chennai in Its Name

Soft to the touch, mild on the tongue and named after Madras itself, musumusukkai is about as Tamil as a herb can be. FounditGood Musumusukkai Powder keeps this humble creeper ready for your dosai, adai and rasam.
