Description
What is it
Botanically, it’s Cynodon dactylon. In Sanskrit, it’s Durva. In Tamil Siddha tradition, it carries the nickname Arokiyap Pul — “the herb of health” — and it’s been pressed into juice, ground into paste, and boiled into decoctions in South Indian homes for longer than anyone can date with certainty. It’s also the grass placed at Lord Ganesha’s feet in nearly every Tamil household pooja — which means most of us have touched this herb in worship long before we ever drank it for wellness.
What Makes This Different
We don’t sell this as a flavoured tisane, because Arugampul isn’t meant to be steeped and sipped for taste — it’s meant to be ground fresh and taken on an empty stomach, the way fresh juice (swaras) has been used for centuries. Our powder is the closest shelf-stable version of that fresh-pluck ritual: dried gently to preserve the chlorophyll and minerals, then stone-ground so it dissolves cleanly into water or buttermilk instead of clumping.
Sourced, dried, and packed at our FSSAI Central Licensed, GMP-compliant, ISO 22000 certified facility — pesticide-free, single-ingredient, nothing added.
Quality: Our premium-quality Arugampul Powder is meticulously sourced and processed to preserve its potency and ensure maximum benefits for you.
What It Does
Blood purification, the way generations have practiced it. The oldest and most repeated use of Arugampul in Siddha home remedy is as a blood purifier — traditionally taken as a decoction with betel leaf and a pinch of pepper. Ayurveda agrees from its own direction: Durva is classed as Asrajit, meaning beneficial for blood-related conditions, and Sheeta Veerya, or cooling in nature — which is why it became the herb of choice for anything that felt “heated” in the body.
Liver and metabolic wellness support. This is one of the places where Siddha tradition and modern curiosity quietly agree. Durva’s cooling, blood-supportive reputation has long extended to general liver and metabolic wellness.
Supports Digestive Health: Arugampul Powder aids in maintaining a healthy digestive system. Its natural properties are believed to help improve digestion, alleviate digestive discomfort, and support a healthy gut
Cooling comfort and gentle diuretic support. Durva’s classical cooling property (Sheeta Veerya) is traditionally used to bring down body heat and ease water retention — one reason this grass became such a fixture in South Indian summer remedies. In Siddha practice, it’s typically reached for when the body feels overheated, rather than as a year-round daily habit.
The unexpected one: early antioxidant research at the cellular level. A 2018 lab study tested Arugampul’s leaf and rhizome (the underground root-stem) as two separate extracts — not blended together like our whole-plant powder — and found measurable free-radical-scavenging activity in both, under in-vitro conditions. It’s early-stage, lab-based research, not a finished story, but it’s mapping at a molecular level the same antioxidant reputation this grass has carried in tradition for centuries.
Supports Detoxification: An alkaline environment is crucial for effective detoxification. Arugampul’s alkalinity aids in the elimination of toxins and waste materials from the body. By promoting efficient detoxification, it helps cleanse your system, leaving you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.
