Drive through the dry plains of Tamil Nadu in summer and you’ll see avaram shrubs (Senna auriculata) lit up with clusters of bright yellow flowers. In Sanskrit the plant is Avartaki, and in English, tanner’s cassia, after the bark once used to tan leather.
Tamil households have long dried the flowers for a pale golden tea, and Siddha tradition values avarampoo for digestive wellness and as a cooling drink in the hot months. Our tea is made from the dried flowers alone.

How to Use It
To brew: Steep one dip bag in a cup (about 150 ml) of freshly boiled water for 5 to 7 minutes. Add a little honey or palm jaggery if you like. Enjoy one cup a day.
Storage: Keep in an airtight container, away from heat, light and moisture.
