Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera), amukkara in Tamil, is a small shrub whose root has been valued for centuries. Its name means ‘smell of a horse’, after the earthy scent of the fresh root.

ZenRoots is our loose ashwagandha root, cut and sifted so it simmers evenly. Brew it on its own or in warm milk, the classical way.

How to Use It

To brew: Simmer 1 teaspoon in 1½ cups of water for 5 to 10 minutes until reduced to about a cup, then strain. Add a little honey or palm jaggery if you like. Enjoy one cup a day.

Storage: Keep in an airtight container, away from heat, light and moisture.
