Description
What is it
Poolankizhangu (Curcuma zedoaria), white turmeric or zedoary, is a cousin of yellow turmeric with pale, cream-coloured flesh and a fresh, camphor-like fragrance. In Sanskrit it is called Karchura.
For generations, it has been a key ingredient in Tamil nalangu maavu and traditional bath powders, valued for traditional skin care. Our powder is made from the dried rhizome alone, finely milled for smooth packs.
What Makes This Different
- Rhizome only. Made from the dried poolankizhangu rhizome, nothing else.
- Fine and fragrant. Milled fine for smooth face packs and bath blends, with its fresh, camphor-like aroma kept.
- Single ingredient. 100% poolankizhangu rhizome, with no fillers, flavouring or blending agents.
What It Does
- A traditional skin-care root. Valued in South Indian tradition for skin care and fragrant baths.
- A classic bath powder ingredient. Mixed with green gram flour and other herbs in traditional bath blends.
- A pleasant fragrance. Fresh, cool and slightly camphor-like.
- Named after a wedding ritual. Nalangu maavu, the traditional Tamil bath powder it often goes into, shares its name with the playful nalangu ceremony of Tamil weddings.
A Fragrant Root From the Tamil Bath Tradition
Long before packaged bath products, Tamil families blended their own fragrant powders for daily baths and festive occasions. FounditGood Poolankizhangu Powder brings that tradition back, simply dried and finely milled.

The FounditGood Promise
For more than a decade, from our home in Pollachi at the foot of the Western Ghats, we have prepared Siddha and Ayurvedic herbs for families across India and customers in many countries around the world. Every pouch carries the same quiet promise: the right herb, prepared the right way.
- Traditional knowledge, carried forward. We prepare each herb the way South Indian tradition intends: the right plant part, cleaned, dried and processed with care.
- Sourcing we can stand behind. A deeply integrated supply chain, built over years with growers and gatherers we know, keeps every herb traceable and every batch consistent.
- Stone-ground, in small batches. Our herbs are ground slowly on stone and in small quantities, so each batch is carefully watched from start to finish.
- Clean label, clean process. Nothing added, nothing hidden: no fillers, colours, flavours or preservatives, made in an FSSAI Central Licensed, GMP-compliant, ISO 22000-certified facility.
- Independently checked. Our products are periodically tested by independent third-party laboratories.
- An ethical commitment. Honest labels, careful work and a refusal to cut corners on quality, because we would rather make less than make it worse.
- Appreciated by those who use it. Customers at home and abroad keep coming back, and their trust is the standard we hold ourselves to.
