Description

What is it

Thumbai (Leucas aspera) is a small, upright herb that pops up in fields after the rains, with tiny, snow-white flowers clustered in neat rings around the stem. In Sanskrit it is called Dronapushpi.

Siddha tradition values thumbai for respiratory and seasonal wellness, and its tender greens are cooked as thumbai keerai in Tamil villages. We clean, dry and finely mill the herb.

What Makes This Different

  • Single herb. Only thumbai, nothing added.
  • Carefully cleaned. Gathered, cleaned and dried with care.
  • Single ingredient. 100% Thumbai, with no fillers, flavouring or blending agents.

What It Does

  • A Siddha herb for the changing seasons. Traditionally valued for respiratory and seasonal wellness.
  • A warm traditional cup. Simmered into a kashayam with a little pepper and honey.
  • A village keerai. Its tender greens are cooked into simple keerai dishes.
  • A flower made for Onam. In Kerala, the little white thumba flower is a treasured part of the Onam pookalam, the floral carpet laid out to welcome King Mahabali home.

A Tiny White Flower That Welcomes a King
